Rycote announces two new sizes in the Cyclone range

Rycote, the award winning U.K. manufacturer of advanced microphone windshields and suspension systems, is pleased to announce the launch of two new sizes in their flagship Cyclone windshield range.

The new Cyclone Medium and Cyclone Small models join the existing Cyclone Large model introduced in 2014. With the addition of these two new sizes, the class-leading Cyclone family now accommodates a huge range of microphone sizes - from a miniature condenser right up to shotgun mics.

news-rycoteCyclone Small, Medium and Large models feature our new, grey 3D-Tex material. This new variation of our durable material provides a neutral appearance while performing even better than the original, providing excellent acoustic transparency and superb attenuation of wind-noise.

The all new Rycote premium short XLR, available with Cyclone Small and Medium, is not only lightweight, it makes these models perfect for use with longer microphones, often reducing the overall size and weight of the Cyclone model required. This enables the Cyclone Medium to accommodate popular shotgun microphones such as the Schoeps CMIT5u and the Sennheiser MKH 416.

Cyclone Small, accommodating a range of microphone sizes from miniature condenser through short shotgun, includes a detachable Offset Link bracket providing mic-axis articulation for ideal microphone placement. Cyclone Small is available with short XLR, MZL or Lemo microphone connector.

The Cyclone range features a durable, lightweight design, with breakthrough advancements in wind and shock isolation performance. Increased transparency is achieved due to the cone- like shape, with no reflective parallel surfaces which greatly reduces room-tone effects. This unique design of the basket gives superior wind-noise reduction that exceeds the combined modular-style windshield / fur cover performance.

An optional Cyclone Windjammer® can be used for the most extreme weather conditions, delivering wind-noise reduction that exceeds any other windshield system available today.
A unique “multi-suspension” design includes the Rycote patented Lyre® Microphone Suspension System, plus the proprietary Floating-Basket Suspension (patent pending) with Lyre Technology for outstanding isolation between the basket structure and the microphone suspension.

The two-piece, Z-Locking Windshield can be removed from or attached to the suspension in an instant using just one hand allowing audio professionals to capture the best possible audio in any environment. Reassembly is automatic as components magnetically snap into perfect alignment.

  • Revolutionary windshield / suspension system with unsurpassed wind and shock protection
  • Range now extended to three sizes (five models total) to accommodate a huge range of mics
  • Cyclone Medium ideal for popular mics such as Schoeps CMIT5u, CMC series; Sennheiser MKH 416 & 8060; Sanken CS-1 and Neumann KMR 81D
  • Cyclone Small ideal for popular mics such as Schoeps CCM Series; Sennheiser MKH 50 & 8050 and Neumann KM100 series

Simon Davies, Managing Director of Rycote adds: "Following the initial release of the Cyclone Large, we are now delighted to be able to offer our customers these smaller Cyclone models to accommodate shorter microphones. Adding the premium, short XLR microphone connector will provide a considerable weight reduction for users of Schoeps CMIT5U and the Sennheiser MKH 416."
