Cleaning your Rycote products.

The purpose of this post is to provide practical guidance on how to properly cleaning your Rycote equipment to help mitigate the chance of your equipment being contaminated with COVID-19.

By following the guidelines below, the risk of being infected by the virus or transmitting the virus via contact with your gear will be reduced; however not a guarantee, but some good practices to follow.

Applicable for Rycote products, including but not limited to: Modular Windshields & Suspensions, Cyclone, Softies, InVision shock-mounts suspensions, Mic Flags.

For metal or plastic surfaces:
Wipe down the exterior of your product with alcohol-based sanitising wipes. We recommend choosing products that are labelled as effective for killing 99.9% of bacteria and viruses and are also bleach-free. You may also spray with a disinfectant solution that contains over 70% alcohol, and dry with a towel.

For synthetic fur product (for example Windjammers, Classic Softies):
We recommend regular hand washing with either warm or cold water using a mild detergent. Then allow the fur to air dry (do not tumble dry), and then brush out to avoid the fur becoming matted. Where washing is not possible, you can also spray with a disinfectant solution that contains over 70% alcohol, allow to dry naturally.

Loan Equipment:
We recommend cleaning the surfaces of your equipment regularly, especially if it has been loaned to, or handled by, another person (loans to colleagues, events, service, bag check, etc.).

Lets all stay safe together!
